When Anxiety Begins to Take Over

Everyone experiences anxiety from time to time. It can help us prepare for challenges, stay alert, and respond to difficult situations. But when anxiety becomes constant or overwhelming, it can begin to shape how you think, feel, and live.

My Approach to Anxiety Counselling

I don't believe lasting change comes from simply learning techniques to push anxiety away.


While coping strategies can certainly be helpful, they often don't address the deeper emotional patterns that keep anxiety alive.


Instead, our work together focuses on helping you understand your anxiety with greater compassion and curiosity.


Together, we'll explore questions like:


  • What situations trigger your anxiety?
  • What emotions feel difficult to experience?
  • What are you protecting yourself from?
  • How have your past experiences shaped the way you respond today?
  • What patterns keep you feeling stuck?
  • What would it look like to feel more secure within yourself?


As you begin understanding these deeper patterns, anxiety often becomes less overwhelming because it no longer has to carry the same protective burden.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy for Anxiety

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy is an evidence-based, attachment-informed approach that helps people understand the emotions and attachment needs beneath anxiety.


Rather than treating anxiety as the problem, EFIT helps uncover the emotional experiences that anxiety is trying to protect.


As you develop a more secure relationship with yourself, anxiety often becomes easier to understand and manage.
