When Life Feels Heavy

Depression is more than feeling sad.


It can feel like moving through life with a weight you can't explain. Things that once felt meaningful may now feel distant. You may struggle to find motivation, feel disconnected from yourself and others, or wonder why everything seems so difficult.


For some people, depression feels like emptiness. For others, it shows up as exhaustion, irritability, hopelessness, or simply feeling numb.

My Approach to Depression Counselling

I don't believe healing comes from simply trying to think more positively. Instead, I see depression as something that deserves curiosity and understanding.


Together, we'll explore questions such as:


  • What has your life been asking you to carry?
  • What emotions have become difficult to access?
  • What experiences may still be affecting you today?
  • Where do shame or self-criticism show up?
  • What helps you feel most alive?
  • What kind of life do you want to move toward?


Rather than fighting against your experience, we'll work toward understanding it. This often creates space for hope, connection, and change to emerge naturally.

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy for Depression

Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is an evidence-based, attachment-informed approach that helps people reconnect with emotions that may have become difficult to experience. Rather than seeing depression as something to simply eliminate, EFIT explores the deeper emotional needs, relationship patterns, and life experiences that may be contributing to your distress. 


As you develop a more secure relationship with yourself, build greater emotional capacity, and experience new ways of responding to difficult emotions, deeper healing and change become possible.
